Come and See

SAT-7® offers periodic "Vision Trips" – opportunities to visit our facilities, meet our people, and get acquainted with the part of the world where we serve. We hope you will join us. We promise you will never be the same.

Q. What countries will we visit?

A. Almost all Vision Trips include Cyprus and Egypt. Occasionally, we also include Lebanon.

Q. Will we be safe?

A. Yes! While no place on earth is absolutely safe, Cyprus and Egypt are very safe. Since tourism is an important part of the economy of both countries, they are very security-conscious. Many visitors report that they feel safer there than in parts of the US.

Q. Who will conduct the tour?

A. Vision Trips are typically conducted by SAT-7 US staff members who have considerable experience in conducting similar tours. We also hire experienced and reliable guides and drivers within the countries visited.

Q. What will we see?

A. You will see the SAT-7 facilities in the countries visited, local partner ministries, churches, as well as historic and cultural sites. You will have opportunities to meet and chat with staff members, many of whom speak English. Your heart will be touched when you hear the remarkable testimonies from some of the staff who have suffered for their faith. You will sense their deep devotion to the Lord, and their passion to make Him known. You will almost certainly come away with a deep appreciation for the absolutely necessity for what SAT-7 is doing.

Q. Will we get to experience the local culture?

A. You will be immersed in it. You will see how people live. You will hear the five-times-daily call to prayer from the minarets of mosques. Best efforts are made to schedule so that you will have the opportunity to worship in a local church.

Q. What about the pyramids and the Nile?

A. We will see the pyramids up close, and you can even ride a camel. There will be many opportunities to see the Nile, and there is usually time to see the famous Egyptian Museum.

Q. What does it cost?

A. You may be surprised to find the cost to be very reasonable compared to other places you have visited. This is because many airlines serve these countries, which drives down the cost. For details about coming trips contact the SAT-7 US Office.

Q. Will we be staying in decent hotels?

A. We will be staying in excellent four-star or better hotels. We travel between appointments in comfortable, air-conditioned mini-buses.

Q. How is the food?

A. Amazing! The whole Mediterranean area is world renown for excellent food. Typically the meals are served family style with a dozen or more dishes to choose from. Pita bread hot from the oven is served with delicious dips to begin most meals. You will also find beef, lamb, and chicken dishes, as well as vegetarian dishes, and some of the best fresh seafood you will find anywhere. Breakfasts are buffet style extravaganzas at the hotel.

Q. Will there be opportunities for shopping?

A. Yes! In Egypt you will visit a giant, open-air bazaar where you will get a chance to practice your bargaining skills. (Either that, or you will make the shopkeepers very happy.) There is also an amazing array of stores of every imaginable kind in downtown Cairo. In old Nicosia, Cyprus, you will find many quaint shops.

Q. What about the climate?

A. These areas are hot in the summer (90's – 100+), cool in the winter (60's), and very pleasant spring and fall. There is very little rainfall in most of the area, which typically occurs during the winter. The summers are not as oppressive as they might seem as it is a dry heat and you will be in air conditioning much of the time.

Q. What should I pack?

A. Pack light. Dress is casual. When visiting mosques or churches you will need to cover shoulders and knees.

Q. Will I need a passport and visa?

A. You will need a passport. The visas for Egypt and Lebanon can easily be obtained at the airport after you arrive. No visa is necessary for Cyprus.

Q. Will I need to change money?

A. Although all expenses are covered in the cost of the trip, you will want to have some of the local currency for souvenirs and incidentals. Cyprus uses Euros – one dollar equals about .65 Euro. Egypt uses Egyptian Pounds – one dollar equals about 5.3 Egyptian pounds. Lebanon uses Lebanese Pounds – one dollar equals about 1,500 Lebanese Pounds.* Many stores and hotels will take Visa, Master Card or American Express. You can use an ATM to get local currency from your US account. Or you can easily exchange American currency at airports, hotels or banks. *Rates change daily.

Q. What about internet and phone service?

A. Internet service is generally available at hotels for an extra charge. International calls can also be made from hotel phones. Cell phone service can also be arranged through most US providers. Check with your cell phone provider well before departure. Your SAT-7 guide will have an international phone in case of an emergency back home.

Q. Where do I sign up?

A. Contact the SAT-7 US office for details on coming trips. Email: or Phone: 410-770-9804.
