Unprecedented Spiritual Movement in Iran

Being a Christian in Iran is a difficult choice. There is very little access to face-to-face fellowship, and Christians are in constant fear of religious persecution, imprisonment, or worse. Because of these issues, security has always been on the mind of SAT-7 PARS. Safety is a concern for the presenters on television, but it is also vitally important to protect the identity of the Christians in Iran who live in fear of religious persecution. Despite all these dangers, Iranians are determined to learn more about Christ.

Live Programs Provide Freedom

Your prayers are needed. We see it in the news every day. Stories about the horrors Christians are facing across the globe. Open Doors recently reported that each month, 322 Christians are killed for their faith, 214 churches and Christian properties are destroyed, and 772 Christians are the victim of religious violence all across the world. Much of the persecuted live in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) where Christians face either extreme or severe persecution in much of the region. Yet, “we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

Beloved Egyptian Children’s Show Returns to Air

Why Is That? just premiered a new season of live episodes on April 1, after being on hold for six months. Egyptian authorities had seized SAT-7 Egypt’s studio equipment, forcing all live broadcasts to take a break. But this did not stop kids from watching reruns of their beloved program each week and sending encouraging messages.

Organized with a local non-profit called A Better Life for Syrian Kids, the collaboration aims to bring smiles to children displaced by conflict in their country.

Algerian Choir Celebrates the Resurrection in Lebanon

An Algerian choir recently travelled to SAT-7 Lebanon to film an Easter special titled The Greatest Love. The special highlights interviews with the Christian choir members and an inspiring collection of 10 worship songs.
Choir member, Haddou Nacer, described it as a “rare and wonderful” opportunity to glorify God and reach people who have not yet experienced His love.

TURKEY: OVERWHELMING AUDIENCE RESPONSE MARKS CHRISTIAN TV CHANNEL’S 1ST ANNIVERSARY

EASTON, MD, USA – February 18, 2016 – On February 14, 2016, Christian satellite TV channel SAT-7 TÜRK marked its first anniversary of broadcasting on Turkey’s national satellite, Türksat, with a potential viewing audience of over 50 million people.

Executive Director and renowned actor, Melih Ekener, (pictured right) says: “We were worried that we would receive a lot of bad reactions, but that hasn’t been the case. Even non-Christians have accepted us. This has been very surprising! I wasn’t expecting that viewers would say to us, ‘I believe in Jesus,’ but this is happening. God is working!”

Rita El Mounayer will serve in the newly created position, Chief Channels and Communications Officer (CCO), overseeing three Arabic channels, one (soon to be two) Persian/Farsi channel, and one Turkish channel. 

Andrew Hart, serving with SAT-7 for the past six years as Operations Director, will assume the newly created position, Chief Operating Officer (COO), working with SAT-7 departments whose efforts make the network’s program production and broadcasts possible.

Iranian and Afghan Widows Experience Life and Its Fullness

When a man dies in Iran and Afghanistan, his wife loses much more than her husband. Unless he has special provisions in a will or prenuptial agreement, the legal custody of their children goes to his parents. In Afghanistan, the widow’s in-laws are especially likely to claim their grandchildren. Remarrying is legal for the widow but would ruin her reputation. Society largely views her as a second-hand woman. Suddenly, she feels she’s lost both her past and her future.

In a few months, parents across the United States will take kids school shopping. They’ll buy colorful cartoon backpacks to hold their crayons, lunch boxes and folders. But can you imagine if your children or grandchildren had no school to go to, for 5 or 10 years?

They’d have no books to read, no notebooks to write in, no artwork or report cards to bring home and hang on the fridge. They couldn’t tell stories about what happened on their field trip or at the playground because they didn’t go.

Christian Channel Makes Headlines in Turkish News

The recent launch of SAT-7 TÜRK, the latest addition to SAT-7's now five-strong stable of Christian satellite TV stations broadcasting across the Middle East, has achieved wall-to-wall coverage across the Turkish broadcast and print media. The SAT-7 TÜRK website also received well over 100,000 visits after a prime-time interview on CNN Türk.  

CNN Türk was the first to invite SAT-7 TÜRK Executive Director Melih Ekener onto its news program, and the story was followed up by TV news channel KANAL D and three national newspapers.

Little Painter Raises Storytelling to an Art

Little Painter, a Farsi children’s program for 4 to 10-year-olds, is set to premiere on SAT-7 PARS this summer. The new show contributes to the team’s goal of launching a 24-hour children’s Farsi channel. Presenter Arezoo, a Christian whose name means “wish” in Farsi, will minister to little ones through her gifts of painting and storytelling.

The Simplicity of Innocence

A few months ago, Mr. Know, a presenter on the popular SAT-7 KIDS program, Why Is That? traveled to a refugee camp in Erbil to interview children forcibly removed from their homes in Iraq. Mr. Know, or Essam as he is known outside the studio, shared a story about life in a refugee camp in an unfinished shopping mall. He never expected to uncover a gem in the form of a ten-year-old girl, Myriam, who had wishes of her own.

Brother of Egyptian Christians Murdered by ISIS Prays for Killers Live on SAT-7

SAT-7 ARABIC has become a mouthpiece for the families of the 21 young Christian men, kidnapped and murdered in Lybia, over the last six weeks since they were first abducted. Tuesday, Bashir, the brother of two of these murdered Christians used live television to thank their killers for including the men’s declaration of faith in the video of their execution.

Kidnapped Syrian bishopsOn the evening of Monday, April 22nd, Mar Gregorios Ibrahim, SAT-7 International Council Member and Syrian Orthodox Archbishop of Aleppo, Syria was traveling with Metropolitan Paul Yazigi, the Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Aleppo. They were returning to Aleppo from a village of Kfar Dael near the Turkish border when armed gunmen stopped the car, killed the driver, and kidnapped the two bishops.

It was quite a coincidence—this far from home—and Phillip saw an opportunity. He said to Aref, “Let’s go tell them about Jesus!”

Men's Talk (in Arabic, Kalam Rijal) has been a long time in the making - the concept for the show began ten years ago. At the time, women's empowerment was the key focus in SAT-7 programming. Women's empowerment is still important for SAT-7 ARABIC and several programs target a female audience, but the creators of Men's Talk felt that men could benefit from a program built just for them.
