Happy New Year! A Narouz Greeting

Each year on the spring solstice, Persians celebrate the new year according to the Persian calendar. The time is called “Narouz” and this year it marks the year 1389 according to their calendar. SAT-7 PARS is marking the 13 day Narouz event with a 13 day children’s program. In the program, children’s host Parastoo talks with a green frog-puppet about the items on the traditional Narouz table that Persians set out to mark the occasion.

But in the SAT-7 PARS version, the two characters will use items on the traditional table as a starting point to discus Christian beliefs. For example, the table setting includes something green, often bean sprouts, symbolizing spring and new growth. Parastoo and the frog will discuss how God is the creator of all things and causes them to grow. During Narouz, many Iranians will clean their homes and buy new clothes, so Parastoo and the frog will also talk about the need to have a clean heart, to forgive others and to give our hearts to Christ.

Around 60% of the population of Iran is under the age of 25, so programs for young people are very important. SAT-7 PARS children's programs are not only informative and educational but most importantly, they are programs that will acquaint Farsi-speaking children with Jesus Christ.
