On World Refugee Day, June 20, we pray for refugees suffering the indignities of inhumane living conditions, rejection by their host communities, separation from family in troubled homelands, and uncertainty. God calls Christians across the world, united as one holy Church, to bear each other’s burdens. Meet David, a young refugee from Iran, who prays for the ministry of SAT-7.
David and his family left their home in Iran because it was too dangerous for them to be Christians there. Now, they live in Turkey, waiting to get asylum status. At 11 years old, David dreams of becoming a pastor when he grows up. He can’t speak Turkish yet but he watches SAT-7 PARS in Persian and learns more about the Christian faith. He’s called his favorite show, Golden Advice, to pray and sing over the air:
“Oh holy God, Almighty God, Living God, we thank You for all that You’ve given us.
Thank You for our healthy bodies, thank You for giving us this opportunity to praise Your name.
Dear Father, I pray that You protect us from anything that comes against us.
Protect us from any wrong thoughts and cancel any spell.
I desire Your Holy Spirit. I submit to You the words of my mouth and praise You.
I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ.”
Young leaders like David, who dare to dream, are part of a rapidly growing Iranian Church.
Iranian Children Paint Their Dreams
Other Iranian children painted pictures of their dreams on the show A Girl’s World. Presenter Parastoo shares the inspiration from the episode:
