Millions in the Middle East live in fear because they have been told that God is an angry punisher, just waiting for people to make a mistake. When they hear for the first time on SAT-7 that God loves them, values them, and has a plan to prosper them and not to harm them, they are filled with joy and often begin a relationship with Christ.
Yasmeen’s Salvation Story
One Arab believer from another religious background, Yasmeen Bidawy, recently appeared on the SAT-7 program Spiritual Evening sharing her story of coming to salvation. Yasmeen says,
“My family is not Christian. I came to know Christ and was baptized in 2014.
“Many things changed in me. Before I knew Christ, before I was baptized, I looked at God with a view full of fear. It was as if He was an executioner. He came to whip me. He just wants to catch me in any mistake I make, any deficiency I have.
“Later, I got to know Jesus. I got to know this God that is total love, that was crucified for me. Who am I that God came down, became human, and allowed Himself to be crucified because He loves me?”
Yasmeen’s spiritual journey resembles that of so many others. A new believer has a surface or nominal familiarity with the Creator. SAT-7 helps new believers mature by providing sound doctrine and discipleship sharing the Word. When they grow in the knowledge and instruction of the Lord, they can bear the fruit of the Spirit and have daily victories because of the work of Christ in their lives.
Facing Fear, Finding Faith
Following Yasmeen’s testimony, program Presenter Tony Frangieh challenged the audience to face their fears:
“There are many brethren from non-Christian backgrounds who say, ‘We open the Gospel to read and our hearts are softened…’ The Gospels are a language of love, a message of love from God to you. Open it and see with your heart your deficiency because you’re afraid to read the Gospel.
“Today, I don’t want you to be afraid of reading the Gospel. Be afraid of your fear of reading the Gospel because when you read it, your heart will be softened because you will find a place of salvation; you will find a place of love, a place of peace and happiness. We all have beautiful hearts, but they remain closed. No one has opened your heart to the Word of God.”
Let us pray that false teaching or fear will not stand in the way, but that more people will open God’s Word and hear His message for themselves. To help make the Gospel available to people like Yasmeen, would you consider a monthly or one-time gift? We are thankful for your support to keeping the ministry going during this tenuous time.
