The congregation leaned in to hear the answer to this question as SAT-7 aired a worship service at Kasr El Dobarah Evangelical Church, the largest evangelical church in Egypt. Visiting Pastor Michael Ramsden preached from Luke 7 about Jesus’ visit to the pharisee’s house, where a prostitute wept and poured perfume on Jesus’ feet. Pastor Ramsden answered the question:
Forgiveness comes first. The love is the response. Jesus goes on to say, ’But whoever has been forgiven little, loves little. You see this woman? Her many sins have been forgiven.’ She has already received forgiveness in the past…And so her love is great. Her love is so great that when Jesus enters the room and He is not honored, she breaks down into tears and she weeps. Large forgiveness equals large love. Small forgiveness equals, you love a little. Our true love for God comes when we recognize how much He loved us and how much He has forgiven us already.”

The Pharisees wouldn’t have expected to learn about true love from a prostitute. They would have scorned and judged her. But Jesus had already decided to welcome her into His kingdom and lauded her genuine love.
Pastor Ramsden’s sermon aired to viewers across the Arabic speaking world on SAT-7 in November 2017. We know from our audience’s prayer requests that they not only need God’s love and forgiveness but they are also sharing the Gospel in their families and communities. Just like families world wide, people are battling illness, struggling financially, and working to keep their marriages together during times of great stress. While American families are free to worship, these families are at risk of being attacked for their faith as they attend worship services. They seek God’s love, power, and forgiveness, yet they are not free to worship openly. There are millions displaced and affected by the destruction of war. Still others are suffering silently while putting their love and faith in Christ.
We have the opportunity to share His love in unexpected ways. We invite you to join us in prayer for God’s hand in the Middle East and North Africa. Thank you for your support that makes SAT-7’s uplifting, educational Christian programming possible for them.
