Meet the Duerksens: Why We Included SAT-7 in Our Will
For over a decade, Rev. Jarol and Mrs. Leah Duerksen have faithfully supported SAT-7. They first realized how important satellite TV is for young people when a SAT-7 employee introduced them to the ministry in Egypt. As a business owner, Mrs. Duerksen donates a portion of her monthly profits to SAT-7.
At 76 years young, the Duerksens lead a lifestyle of service in ministry. This is largely driven by their talents as competitive table tennis players. Each weekend, the couple plays table tennis at their home with young people, many of them foreign students. They have also spent time in Bangkok, Thailand, teaching English and coaching table tennis at a Christian school. Rev. Duerksen says that table tennis is just another unconventional way to spread the Gospel, similar to how SAT-7 uses technology to spread the Gospel.
Recently, the Duerksens have decided to include a gift to SAT-7 in their Will. Participating in planned giving is just an extension of their passion for young people and for life! Their gift will make a difference in the spiritual lives of families in the Middle East and North Africa far into the future.
