“In the Land of Darkness, A Light Has Dawned.”

10th December 2024

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned” (Isaiah 9:2 NIV).

Throughout the Bible, light is a powerful symbol for God’s presence, purity, and truth. From the very beginning, God declares, “Let there be light” in Genesis 1:3, distinguishing light from darkness as a fundamental act of creation. This theme carries forward, with light consistently representing God’s guidance, holiness, and salvation.

One of the clearest expressions of this is found in Jesus’ own words in John 8:12, where He declares, “I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows Me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

This statement is deeply significant. Jesus isn’t just using poetic imagery – He’s connecting Himself to the Old Testament prophecies, particularly Isaiah 9:2

Watch the video below to learn about the symbolism behind Jesus as the Light of the world.

For centuries, Isaiah 9:2 was understood as a promise of the Messiah, the One who would bring God’s light into a dark and broken world. By calling Himself the light of the world, Jesus was boldly proclaiming to be the fulfillment of Isaiah’s prophecy.

Just as Isaiah’s prophecy brought hope to Israel, Jesus brings the same to us today. So as you celebrate this season of Christmas or just take a moment to reflect on God’s Word, remember that the true Light – Jesus Christ – has come into the world.

May you stay blessed and continue to let His light shine in your life.

Blessings,
