“Why me?” It is one of the oldest and most troubling questions of the human heart. It echoes through Scripture and through our own lives, especially in our hardest moments.
For many women across the Middle East and North Africa, it is often born of unseen struggles; carried in silence, with no one to hear the cry.
But SAT-7 is changing that.
Through SAT-7 ARABIC’s recent “Why Me?” digital media campaign, women were invited to share the challenges they had been carrying alone. The campaign featured on Him & Her, one of SAT-7 ARABIC’s Facebook and Instagram pages, which helps people address areas of pain, conflict, and isolation in their relationships and family life. Through discussion questions and personal follow-up, the team encourages people to speak openly, knowing someone is ready to listen, pray, and walk alongside them.
One of the women who responded was Joud, a woman from Algeria…
She told SAT-7’s Viewer Support team that she was born with an impairment, and less than a year later, her parents separated. Joud’s father remarried and started a new family. Her mother blamed Joud for the separation.
“I grew up in constant fear and rejection,” she said. “My father never showed me love, even though he was known to be kind and sensitive.”
As she grew older, the emotional wounds remained. Bullied because of her condition and deprived of love and affection at home, she found herself searching for acceptance in unhealthy relationships.
“Because I was deprived of love and affection, I entered into multiple relationships with young men, hoping to fill the emptiness in my life,” she revealed.
“But this situation has deeply exhausted me. I feel as though I have lost hope in everything around me, and I find it very difficult to forgive those who caused my pain and unhappiness.”
The Viewer Support team welcomed Joud, thanked her for opening her heart to them, and listened to her whole story. Together, they prayed, gently encouraging her to begin “the journey of forgiveness towards those who had hurt her at different stages of her life.”
As the conversations continued, the team shared practical steps to help her move forward. Joud embraced them, expressing her thanks.
“Thank you for caring about me and for praying for me,” she later wrote. “I remember the situations I went through with others, and now I understand I am learning to forgive and to take lessons from each experience.”

Joud’s story is deeply personal, but it is not unique.
“Him & Her serves people who are facing real relational struggles and need a safe, warm, and realistic space to reflect, engage, and receive support,” says Nancy Awny, SAT-7’s Arabic Digital Media Director. “It helps people build healthier and more balanced relationships: in marriage, friendships, and family life.”
Public discussion questions such as the “Why Me?” campaign are a key part of this ministry.
“These questions often encourage people to share their thoughts, struggles, or experiences,” Nancy explains. “Over time, this public engagement can build trust. When people feel that the page understands their situation, they move from a public comment to a private message, where the conversation becomes more personal and pastoral: asking for prayer, guidance, or support.”
The journey from public conversation to personal pastoral care is reflected in the stories of many who connect with SAT-7 through Him & Her.
Milina, from Morocco, reached out about difficulties in her marriage. After conversations with the Viewer Support team, prayer, and receiving resources about strengthening relationships, she later shared encouraging news: “Praise be to God, everything is better now,” she wrote. “My husband used to do things that upset me, but thank God he has changed. Thank you. We talked, and now things are better.”
Ruth from Egypt contacted the Him & Her page with a prayer request after suffering two miscarriages. Married for three years, she asked the team to pray that God would bless her and her husband with a child, saying, “Amen. It is truly an honor and a blessing for us to have your prayers and support.”
For many people, social media is a place to scroll past difficult questions. Through Him & Her, SAT-7 is creating something different: a place where honest conversations about relationships can become opportunities for people to share – and relieve – burdens they have carried for years.
For Joud, it began with the courage to write about a lifetime of rejection. What started as a single social media message became an opportunity to experience God’s love, begin understanding the wounds she had carried for so long, and take her first steps towards forgiveness.
Today, she writes, “I have started working on forgiving others, and I already feel some relief.”
