Bagha from Algeria was desperate to free herself from societal pressures. Therefore, she left her family’s religion to begin her walk as a Christian. However, her intention to become a Christ follower was rooted in a rebellious nature.
Bagha shared, “All the Christian women I knew got to know Christ through their husbands. They were safe and, unlike me, a single woman, and were not prone to danger because of society and traditions that put pressure on the person to follow the herd. Honestly, my faith in Christ in the beginning was just a way to escape my religion.” Although her intentions were different, Bagha soon learned that this choice would be part of her story.
She continued, “With time and despite my sins, I searched and began to understand more about Christ and why He came to me, a sinner. I understood that He came to guarantee my eternity and that He does not want me to end up in hell.” Bagha’s desire to be free led her to Christ, which then led to her salvation.
“Jesus died because of my sins, and He was resurrected for my sake. He is the way, the truth, and the eternal life,” Bagha professed. Her journey as a believer continues to be strong and purposeful.
