Worship Leader Inspires Young SAT-7 Viewers

21st August 2026

With energy and enthusiasm, Mina Awny, worship leader and presenter of the SAT‑7 KIDS live program I Dwell in Him, leads young Arab viewers in an hour of uplifting praise every Saturday evening.

As well as performing his day job as an anesthetist, Mina also leads worship at live events for children and youth, including the “Follow Me” conference in July, which was broadcast live on SAT-7 KIDS.

“Every time I play music and sing with the children, I feel something genuine stir in my core,” Mina says.

The 42-year-old father has been leading children in praise and worship for over 20 years, and his 12-year-old daughter, Emma, is part of his current group.

Passion For Music

“My passion for music started when I was a teenager,” Mina said. “I joined the church praise and worship team as their youngest player, and they let me play secondary keyboard. My church supported me and believed in me.”

Soon after finishing high school, Mina felt called to start a children’s praise and worship team in his church in Assiut, Upper Egypt, and led this ministry until his graduation from medical school.

“My calling and vocation started materializing,” he said. “I tried leading adults, but it didn’t feel right. This lasted for a few years until I was finally convinced that it was from the Lord. It is my specific calling to lead children in worship.”

When Mina moved to Cairo for work, he got involved in conferences organized by the Evangelical Fellowship of Egypt, leading the children’s praise team and creating new songs for the young worshippers.

Growing Influence

Several years later, Mina had the opportunity to connect with larger audiences of children across the Middle East by joining SAT-7 in 2012 as part of a new program, We Pray For Our Country.

“It was a critical time in Egypt then because it was right after the revolution of 2011 and everyone was shaken; children couldn’t understand what was happening and felt the need for the Lord. They needed to read the Word of God, pray more, and feel the presence of the Lord in their homes,” he said.

The program proved popular and as the audience engagement grew, SAT-7 KIDS asked Mina to present a new live program for children called With Jesus, which ran for several years.

It was then that Mina began a new worship group with children called “I Am Yours,” which today has 26 young members. They take part in his latest show, I Dwell in Him, which is now in its second season.

For Mina, music is a powerful way of sharing God’s Word with young audiences – and SAT-7 is an effective platform for this ministry.

“Children need the living Word of God. They need to hear God’s Word for themselves every day,” he said. “That’s the good thing about live programming on SAT-7. They get their daily bread fresh every day and not stale. Every day the Lord tells us something new.”

Spiritual Support

Mina and his wife, Dina, support the group of young worshippers in their spiritual lives and performances, encouraging them to spend time in personal prayer as well as music practice.

Their daughter, Emma, is following in her father’s footsteps in more ways than one. As well as singing in the group, she has also started writing her own worship songs and wants to be a doctor like her dad.

Leading a team of children in live television programs and largescale conferences has its challenges, along with the other demands in Mina’s life, but he is deeply committed to his ministry.

“We see it as a great blessing to serve with SAT-7 because it reaches many children, and we can see the fruit in a unique way,” he said. “Many shared with us that they follow SAT-7 KIDS programs because they don’t have a church or Sunday School to attend. This is a great opportunity to reach them.”
