A Prayer From an Iranian Christian

4th February 2026

As reports continue to emerge from Iran about the scale and brutality of the recent crackdown on protesters, we share this moving prayer from an Iranian viewer outside the country…

“O God, just as the night seemed to be approaching its end and the light of the dawn was overcoming the night, we have heard horrifying news…

The extent of the atrocities has been such that there is no city, no district, no village, no neighborhood that is not mourning the loss of someone they know.

With all this sorrow, how can a man lay his head on the pillow and sleep? And when he rises up, the problems of affording food for his children still remain; there is little to eat.

O God, the magnitude of the crime that has been committed in Iran is still not known, but You know all things. As we stand on the threshold of the dawn, I lift up before You my beloved Iran, which is leaving behind the darkness of its recent past.

Lord, we do not know what will happen in the days and months before us, but You know all hearts and all that is hidden in people’s hearts, thoughts, intentions, and consciences. Your ways and Your paths are higher than ours, but You have promised that in our weakness, You will show Your strength.

O God, I believe that You are present and see all the injustice. So, I lift my hands to You, and in the name of Your only beloved Son, in union with all Your saints and in complete unity with Your Church, I ask You to intervene.

O God, I know that You are greater and more powerful than any dark power; help the suffering people of Iran wherever they are. Command your heavenly armies to scatter our enemies. We do not believe that any power can act independently of You, and we know that You can use any power to do Your will.

O God, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, I ask You to shape the future of Iran according to Your perfect will, and bring joy and laughter in place of tears and sadness.

O God, grant our people victory, and may it be that we will soon witness it and praise You joyfully as we celebrate. May Your Church in Iran grow and our land be cleansed of all falsehood.

Lord, transform our sorrows into the joy of Your presence, and glorify Your dear and holy name in Iran. Hallelujah to the Father, to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. I ask in the holy name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
