After a four-year break, Pleasant Chat – SAT-7 TÜRK’s popular Azeri-language talk show – is back. This uplifting Bible-based program, which emphasizes the value of women in God’s eyes, is badly needed in a country that lacks resources aimed at Christian women.

Pleasant Chat released seven seasons before the COVID-19 pandemic halted production. Presenters Aygün Çamsun and Mehriban Bağırova will now pick up where the last season left off, studying stories of women in the Bible and applying them to the daily challenges of their viewers.

As female viewers watch the presenters’ heartfelt discussions, they will discover their true God-given identity, develop a healthy understanding of the roles of women, and gain wisdom for raising godly children, all while storing up the Word of God in their hearts.

Pleasant Chat 768x382The program is presented from a home-inspired set furnished with comfortable armchairs and bookshelves. The women discuss topics including “educating children in the home,” “becoming better listeners,” “giving thanks in all circumstances,” and “praying constantly.” Bible verses and worship songs are interspersed throughout the discussions, allowing isolated Azerbaijani Christians to get some of the spiritual nourishment they so badly need.

Meeting Needs

The needs of Azerbaijani women, such as companionship, help with child-rearing, financial security, discipleship, and emotional support, often go unmet. Although TV is a central part of Azerbaijani culture – especially for women, who tend to spend more time at home than men – not many programs address women’s needs.

There is also a marked lack of Christian resources in the country. Almost all religious practices are subject to government oversight, and teaching materials must have state approval. Followers of Jesus are a small minority in Azerbaijan, and many feel isolated.

Azeri women need to know God’s love, God’s Word, and God’s presence. That is why the return of Pleasant Chat is a moment to celebrate.
