As Lebanon faces a second day of uncertainty about what will happen to its people across the country, SAT-7’s Beirut studio calls for prayers that the situation will de-escalate and their country will be protected from being subjected to the vagaries and destruction of war.

“Yesterday, we witnessed the worst violence in Lebanon for the last 20 years. Almost 500 people were killed, and more than 1,000 injured, including 35 children. All this was in a single day, and now the Lebanese people are terrified of what will come next,” says Maroun Bou Rached, Executive Director for SAT-7 Lebanon. The country is home to more than 30 staff and their families.

“I ask people around the world to pray that the violence stops immediately, that our country will be spared further bloodshed, that the children, in particular – this precious generation – will not witness or experience what we did as children and their lives will be spared, and that Lebanon can live in peace with its neighbors.”

As thousands fled north to the capital, Beirut, our studio’s staff continued to broadcast God’s hope across satellite and social media platforms, sharing this prayer on screen and engaging with viewers on social media:

O Lord, our hearts are heavy with sadness at what we see of the painful events in our beloved Lebanon. Today we lift to You our prayers for peace, asking You to intervene.

Please intervene, Lord, to replace anger and revenge with peace and love.

We ask You, Lord, to have mercy on all the innocents affected by this human tragedy and give them strength and patience.

We feel the suffering of those displaced from their homes, and we ask You to protect them and provide them with shelter and safety.

O Lord, You are the God of peace. We ask that You touch the hearts of all officials and leaders, and inspire them to take the path of dialogue and wisdom to reach a just and peaceful solution.

We believe, Lord, that You hear our prayers and that You are close to the broken-hearted.

We put our hope in You alone, asking that You plant peace in beloved Lebanon.

Please join us in praying for Lebanon and all those affected by the crisis, and pray that our staff is able to continue providing Bible-based support at this devastating time.
