God at Work During Christian Festival in Egypt

5th November 2024

Thousands of young people and families gathered for Count it Right, a vibrant Christian festival in Egypt, while over a million viewers watched the event live across SAT-7’s platforms.

The annual event is hosted by Kasr El Dobara Evangelical Church (KDEC) at Beit El Wady (House of the Valley), a retreat center in Wadi Natroun. Attendees gathered from October 10-12 to experience an uplifting mix of teaching and worship alongside sports and entertainment, with the theme “Hand in Hand We Succeed Together.”

Count it Right returned last year after a break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival united a dynamic and growing community of participants, the majority of whom were young people, and this year saw a rise in attendance, with a single church sending 600 of its youth.

As in previous years, SAT-7 was the official media partner, broadcasting the event live for eight continuous hours on each of three days. The coverage attracted 1.2 million views on Facebook and 33,000 views on YouTube, with many more watching on the SAT-7 ARABIC channel.

The festival is organized by Rev. Sameh Maurice of KDEC, who said that it provides a good opportunity for people to “count it right,” explaining, “Unfortunately, a lot of youth have been deceived by the world, so this festival allows them to reconsider. Thank God that thousands of people decided to once again give their lives to Christ and taste His goodness.”

Answered Prayers

During the live coverage, SAT-7’s Viewer Support team was on hand to connect with viewers and set up a dedicated WhatsApp number for people to send their messages and prayer requests. Over 950 messages were received, leading to deep conversations, prayers, and encouragement. Among the contacts were 20 people who committed themselves to Christ for the first time and several stories of answered prayer.

“It was not just another yearly conference; it was a profound demonstration of God’s faithfulness and power,” said Marianne Awaraji, SAT‑7 ARABIC’s Audience Relations Manager. “From the moment we began promoting the event and shared the WhatsApp number for prayer requests, the Holy Spirit was moving.

“Even a day after the event ended, messages kept coming: ‘We know the conference is over, but please continue to pray for us.’ It was clear that people felt the presence of God and longed to stay connected to His promises through prayer.”

A viewer called Mirna reached out to SAT-7 through WhatsApp saying, “Please pray for me because I feel lost. I need God to set me free and draw me closer to Him. I am very exhausted and need you to pray for my family, that the Lord would be present in our lives mentally, physically, and spiritually.”

The team prayed for Mirna, talked to her about God’s love, and shared encouraging Bible verses with her, which, she said, “made a huge difference in my life.” She committed to having a personal relationship with the Lord and spending daily time meditating on His Word.

There were opportunities for the Viewer Support Team to reconnect with people who had contacted them during last year’s Count it Right festival. Last year, a woman asked for prayer because she was struggling to conceive. This year, she called again to announce happily, “The Lord has blessed me with a child!”

Another viewer shared how God restored her daughter’s health through the power of prayer. “I asked for your prayers last year for my daughter, and you prayed faithfully for her. The Lord intervened and performed a miracle: she has recovered completely and is now back in school. The Lord is good and worthy of all praise!”

SAT-7 also had a team of staff and volunteers on the ground at Count it Right with a special booth, promoting SAT-7 PLUS and gathering valuable feedback on programming from viewers.

“The team members on the ground received uplifting messages from participants, who shared their testimonies and opinions about SAT-7,” said Marianne. “They spoke about how they have grown spiritually by watching our channels and how the programs have been a blessing to them. Some also provided valuable, constructive feedback.”

Give thanks for the impact of this year’s Count it Right event, and pray that there will be lasting fruit in the lives of all attendees and those watching on SAT-7.
