There are times in life when it can feel overwhelming, even hopeless. Hadi from Iran described a time in his life many years ago when he felt he was at the end of the line. Through struggles and difficulties in his marriage and family, Hadi couldn’t understand why he was suffering.
Hadi shared, “When I got married, I had weaknesses in my character. Once we had a child, I was unable to manage my family well. I had problems with my wife, and I was mostly to blame. We were separated. I felt a great deal of pressure. I had no idea what to do as I knew nothing about life, nor did I understand why I had to have all these problems.” The struggles Hadi experienced are similar to what many people face today.
He continued, “One day, a friend called me and said that he was in one of the big cities and asked if I wanted something from there. I asked him to pray for me, and I explained that I didn’t feel well and that I wasn’t far from taking my own life.” Hadi’s honest reply showed that he knew he could not be fulfilled by earthly possessions.
“One summer afternoon many years ago, while I was lying on the couch with my eyes closed but not asleep, the sky opened, and a person made of light stood two meters from me. I was in shock and thought I must be dreaming. I was flicking my legs hard to awaken myself. I felt calm and full of peace. I felt no fear and as if I knew the light-being. He was gentle and kind, and I just wanted to gaze upon Him forever. I asked Him who He was, and He said, ‘I am Christ,’ and told me to get up,” Hadi excitedly shared. This experience led Hadi to change his life forever.
In Hadi’s final comment, he said, “It has been many years since that meeting, and I wanted to give this testimony so that others who have reached the end of the line, as I had, would seek help from Christ. After coming to faith in Christ, my life massively improved. There are difficulties still, but now, with help from the Holy Spirit, I know why I endure the difficulties, and I am not lost or confused.”
