No life is beyond the reach of God’s grace. Makan, a man from Iran, knows this firsthand. His early years were marked by hardship and rejection.

“I was an unwanted child and also a child of divorce,” he shared. As he grew older, Makan turned to drugs, becoming trapped in addiction for six years. But even in his darkest moments, God was at work, preparing a path to freedom.

One day, while trying to buy drugs, Makan was unexpectedly turned away by his dealer. The next morning, suffering from intense physical pain and withdrawal, he reached a breaking point. “I said, ‘Jesus, You went to the cross for my sins so that I could be free from sin and bondage. I ask You to give me iron willpower because I want to quit.’”

What happened next changed his life forever. “When I counted to four, I really felt the presence of the Lord,” Makan recalled. Through the power of the Holy Spirit and the grace of God, Makan began a journey of freedom from addiction. Today, he celebrates nearly twenty years of sobriety.

“I quit drugs with the strength of the Holy Spirit and through the grace and love of God the Father,” he said. Makan also credits his older sister, whose faith helped lead him to Christ.

God can redeem even the most painful chapters of our lives. The same God who met Makan in his moment of desperation continues to bring hope, healing, and freedom to people across the Middle East and North Africa. Thank you for helping make God’s love visible to viewers like Makan.
