No matter how hard we try, as humans, we can never fully experience satisfaction in life without God. Only through Him can we have spiritual thirst and hunger fulfilled. Shokoh from Türkiye described her life after declaring Jesus as her savior.
Shokoh knew of Jesus while growing up. However, she didn’t accept Him into her life until later. She said, “My mother was from a different religious background, and my father was a Christian. He never told us we had to become Christians, but he always talked about Christ. I didn’t become a Christian until I declared my faith to my daughter-in-law and prayed for salvation.”
After making this decision, Shokoh desired to grow more in her spiritual health. She continued, “I learned more about Christ through a close friend, and I joined the Persian-speaking church in Istanbul. And with the help of SAT-7, I began to grow and learn.”
Her faith grew, and things in her life that used to bother her suddenly seemed unimportant. “I have changed in many ways. Convenient lies no longer mean anything to me. Anger has given way to patience. Distrust has been replaced by trust only in the Lord. Hearing God’s voice, overcoming past and present pains, and laying them at the foot of the cross have turned darkness into light through love for Christ. Forgiving people whom I never knew how to forgive… and so much more,” she said.
Shokoh described her experience with forgiveness following her life-changing declaration. “For years, I did not forgive my ex-spouse. I learned to forgive, and I no longer had nightmares. I did not become weak or ill; I was not resentful. I could describe the good taste of forgiveness while sharing the Gospel. I can say how sweet it is,” Shokoh said.
