Addiction can occur when we look to earthly substances for relief from earthly problems, instead of focusing on the one who created all. Humans long to escape the realities of this world with temporary relief. Mitra, a viewer from Iran, contacted SAT-7 to share her story of addiction due to the environment she was living in.
Mitra shared, “I live in a closed, violent country. They arrest us women for the way we dress, for what we do even in the privacy of our own homes, and we are maltreated and hurt while being arrested.” Mitra felt trapped and unable to see hope in her future.
She continued, “In this society, we have caused so much damage to ourselves and others. I became an addict. My spirit and mind were caught in this vicious cycle.” Her story is similar to that of many others living in the Middle East and North Africa. Thankfully, Mitra was granted peace when she came to know Jesus.
“I was addicted until Christ saved me, and I realized that God had plans for me. I have understood from God’s word that we are living in a fallen world, and many diseases are passed down from generation to generation, unless we accept Christ,” Mitra said.
After she became a believer, Mitra was enlightened. She said, “We must accept Christ and understand that we are sinners, both towards ourselves and others. We must surrender our lives to be saved from guilt, become aware of God, and accept His will. Then, we are connected and are in the source of life, and He has made us to be the salt and light of the world.”
Mitra’s acceptance of Christ into her life has offered her hope in a place where she felt trapped. “Thank God for our Lord Jesus Christ and for the faith He has granted me,” she said.
Please pray for viewers like Mitra who are faced with great challenges where they live. God is at work in the MENA. Your support of SAT-7 helps share the Gospel and hope.
